Terms of use
For the Bustanli app, including the subscription terms
In short: Without a subscription, a basic offer on the garden island Bustan is free to play. A subscription opens everything for the whole family: CHF 4.90 a month or CHF 39.90 a year, both with 7 days free for new subscribers. The subscription renews automatically and can be cancelled at any time in the store you got the app from.
This English text is a translation. If the two versions differ, the German version applies.

1. Scope and contracting party
These terms apply to the use of the Bustanli app and to the Bustanli subscription. Bustanli is made for children aged 6 to 8. The terms are addressed to the parents or other guardians who install the app and take out a subscription.
Every purchase is handled by the store you got the app from: Google Play or Apple’s App Store. Depending on the country and the store, you conclude the purchase contract with the store operator, which may also act on our behalf, or with us. The store’s terms also apply to payment and billing. We, not the store operator, are responsible for the app and its content.
If you got the app from the App Store, section 11 also applies.
2. What Bustanli is
Bustanli is an Islamic learning game. A companion animal with a little lantern guides the child across floating islands, where the child playfully gets to know letters, surahs, duas, wudu, prayer and good manners.
The religious content is based on sources named in the parent area. The parent area openly shows the status of the review by scholars. Bustanli supports the upbringing by parents, teachers and scholars; it does not replace it.
3. Free basic offer
Without a subscription, a basic offer on the garden island Bustan is free to play. The app shows which places and content are included: whatever is locked carries a padlock.
4. The subscription
What it opens: The subscription opens all content available in the app during its term, for all children who play on the device. It belongs to your store account: on every device where the same store account is signed in, you get it back with “Restore purchases” in the parent area. The game state does not move with it; it stays on the device where it was played. There is only this one subscription.
Terms and prices: One month costs CHF 4.90, one year CHF 39.90, each including any VAT. Outside Switzerland, the store shows the price in your currency. The price shown by the store before you subscribe is binding.
Subscribing: The subscription can only be started in the parent area, behind maths questions for adults. Payment goes through your store account.
Free trial: New subscribers try it free for 7 days. The trial is available only once: on Google Play for accounts that have never had a subscription in Bustanli, on the App Store once per Apple Account. The store shows before you subscribe whether you are eligible. If you cancel before the trial ends, you pay nothing. Cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, otherwise the paid subscription starts and the first amount is charged. Whether the content stays open until the end of the trial after you cancel during it is up to the store’s rules.
Renewal: The subscription renews automatically for the same term until you cancel it. The store charges the amount at the start of each new term, the App Store already within the 24 hours before.
Cancelling: You can cancel at any time in the store:
- Google Play: in the Play Store app under profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, or at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions;
- App Store: in the iPhone settings under your name, Subscriptions, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
In the parent area, “Manage or cancel subscription” takes you straight there. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current term. Until then, everything stays open. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
Annual subscription in the EU and EEA: If you live in the EU or EEA as a consumer, you can end an annual subscription at any time after the first year with one month’s notice. To do this, cancel in the store and write to us with the date on which you want it to end. For time already paid after that date, we refund the proportionate amount, through the store or, where the store does not allow this, to an account you give us.
Price changes: If we change the price, the store informs you in advance according to its rules. Where the store or the law requires it, a higher price only applies once you agree. If you do not agree, the subscription ends at the end of the current term. You can cancel before any price change.
Refunds: Refunds go through the store under its rules:
- Google Play: under Google’s refund policies. Within the first 48 hours after a purchase you may, depending on the purchase, request a refund directly from Google.
- App Store: through reportaproblem.apple.com under Apple’s rules.
After that, write to us at kontakt@bustanli.com and we will review every request fairly. We can refund Google Play purchases ourselves; App Store purchases can only be refunded by Apple. There is no partial refund for a started term after cancelling, except under section 5, under “Annual subscription in the EU and EEA”, or where the law provides for it.
5. Right of withdrawal for consumers in the EU, the EEA and the United Kingdom
If you live in the EU, the EEA or the United Kingdom as a consumer, you have a statutory right of withdrawal.
Withdrawal information
Right of withdrawal: You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is 14 days from the day the contract is concluded, that is from taking out the subscription, even if it starts with a free trial.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, you must inform us (Hazdret Zuka, Hofackerstrasse 18, 8953 Dietikon, Switzerland, kontakt@bustanli.com) of your decision to withdraw from this contract by an unequivocal statement, for example an email or a letter. You may use the model withdrawal form below, but it is not obligatory. You can also declare the withdrawal through the store: on Google Play in the order history of your Google account, on the App Store in the purchase history of your Apple Account. To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal: If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse to you all payments received from you, by us or by the store on our behalf, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract. We will carry out such reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the purchase, which usually means a refund through the store, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise. In any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
Early expiry: The right of withdrawal expires early if we have started to provide the content after you expressly agreed that we may begin before the end of the withdrawal period, you acknowledged that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal, and you received a confirmation of this. If you did not give this consent when purchasing, your right of withdrawal lasts the full 14 days.

If you wish to withdraw from the contract, please complete and return this form.

6. New content and changes to the app
We keep developing Bustanli, for example with further islands. There is no claim to specific new content by a specific date. Hilal Island only opens during the month of Ramadan.
Beyond the updates that keep the app in conformity with the contract, we only change the app during a running subscription for a valid reason: to improve or correct content, including after a review by scholars, to adapt it to new devices, operating systems, store rules or laws, or for security reasons. Such changes cost you nothing extra, and we point them out in the app or in the release notes in the store. If a change affects your access to or use of the content more than only slightly, you can end the subscription free of charge within 30 days of the change. For time already paid after that, we refund the proportionate amount.
7. Right of use and third-party content
You may use Bustanli privately for your family, on the devices where your store account is signed in. You may not copy, sell, modify, reverse engineer or publicly perform the app or its content, unless the law expressly allows it.
The rights in the app, its images, texts, voices and sounds, and in the name and logo Bustanli belong to the provider, unless they belong to others.
Third-party content and sources: Bustanli also shows and plays content created by others. The rights in it remain with its rights holders.
- Qur’an recitation: Mahmoud Khalil al-Husary, teaching recitation (“Muallim”). Source of the recordings: everyayah.com.
- Arabic text of the Qur’an: Uthmani text in the Hafs reading, from the Tanzil Project (tanzil.net) and from Quran.com, displayed with the font “KFGQPC Uthmanic Script HAFS” of the King Fahd Complex.
- Meanings of Qur’an verses: in German after Frank Bubenheim and Nadeem Elyas, in English after Sahih International, in Turkish after the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Türkiye (Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı) and after Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır, in Albanian after Sherif Ahmeti (text source: Tanzil Project, tanzil.net).
- The parent area names the sources of the hadiths, duas and other religious content.
The app also contains open-source software. Those parts are covered by their own licences.
8. Availability and defects
We maintain Bustanli with care and fix errors as soon as we know about them. Supported devices are shown in the store. Your statutory rights in case of defects remain unaffected. In the EU this includes that we provide the updates needed during the subscription term to keep the app in conformity with the contract.
9. Liability
We are liable without limitation for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. In cases of slight negligence, we are only liable if we breach an essential contractual obligation, that is an obligation that makes the contract possible in the first place and on which you may rely. Liability is then limited to the damage that was typical and foreseeable when the contract was concluded. Mandatory statutory liability, for example under product liability law, remains unaffected.
10. Privacy
How Bustanli handles data is described in the privacy policy. In short: the app sends no data to us.
11. Additional terms for the App Store
If you got the app from Apple’s App Store, the Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Apple’s standard EULA) governs your licence to use it. These terms supplement it. If they conflict regarding the licence, the standard EULA prevails.
Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app, its content, its maintenance or support. We are. Please send questions, error reports and complaints about the app to us.
12. Changes to these terms
We may adapt these terms, for example when laws, store rules or the app change. Changes that do not put you in a worse position apply from their publication on this page. For a running subscription, changes to your disadvantage only apply if you agree. We announce them at least 30 days in advance on this page and in the app, and ask for your agreement in the app. If you do not agree, the previous terms continue to apply to your subscription. Section 4 covers price changes.
13. Law and jurisdiction
Swiss law applies. If you live in another country as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of that country. As a consumer, you can sue at your place of residence or at the provider’s seat. We can only sue you at your place of residence. For the licence from the App Store, the governing law rules of Apple’s standard EULA also apply (section 11).
